the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment(114-й запасный пехотный полк).

anubosir: Hi everybody, First of all i want to apologize but i don't speak russian.I use google translator to register and to handle russian speaking sites. My name is Panagiotis Mouratidis and i 'm from Athens,Greece. http://s1047.photobucket.com/albums/b474/anubosir/?action=view&current=AntonMuratov2.jpg The photo you can see here belongs to my great grandfather Anton Mouratov(АНТОН МУРАТОВ).It was taken in 1917.After some research i made on the internet i have reached some interesting conclusions. On his shoulder board there is an insignia with a number and a rank. Some Russians internet friends recognize it.My great grandfather Anton Mouratov was a Sergeant Major (Feldfebel-фельдфе́бель) in the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment(114-й запасный пехотный полк). This discovery fits the inscription on the back side of the photo. In the handwriting of my great grandfather,is a memorial from Caucasus in January 15,1917 from "Caucasian Acting Army".During the WW1 The 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment was stationed in Kars,Caucasus (Карс,modern Turkey, then Russian Empire) according to: http://www.grwar.ru/library/Zvegintsov/RA_09.html Documents of the regiment are in the fond 7838 of the RGVIA: http://guides.rusarchives.ru/browse/guidebook.html?bid=140&sid=229289 I have mailed twice the Russian State Military History Archive (RGVIA) asking for a copy of the fond 7838 concerning the history of the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment during the WW1.Or more specifically, a copy of his personal military record(if there is).Till now i haven't got an answer. After that,i feel stucked.I don't know what else to do or where else to search. If anyone have any idea or a suggestion it would be highly apreciated.I m looking for my great grandfather's service document (послужной список) or anything about him or the 114th Reserve Infantry Regiment. If you need any other information from me,please let me know. Thank you very much in advance. Panagiotis Mouratidis.

Zouave: Dear Mr Mouratidis, As you have stated, your great grandfather was sergeant-major, i.e. other rank. Thereby there can not be his service document in RGVIA. To ask about copying the entire fond - it's, I would say, impossible. Even if they do it, you'll have to pay a lot money. Moreover, it could be absolutely useless, 'cause you could find nothing at all about your great grandfather there. So, the only answer to your question is to go personally to Moscow and look for information about your ancestor in the Regimental fond. regards, Michael

anubosir: Thanks for replying Michael.Could the fact that he had two medals(still don't know if it is St.George order or St. Stanislaus) give me a hope?I mean that actions like presentations of medals where not officially registered on files? Also,Are there any other places(internet sites) except from RGVIA,where somebody can find general information about russian regiments in WW1?For example, in http://rutracker.org i downloaded История Русских полков 1-5.There i found a file called "Памятка 114-го пехотного Новоторжского полка Кирилов Е.М. 1900.pdf".But that was about the history of the 114th Infantry Regiment till 1900.Nothing else about the regiment.Thank you.
